Icelandic Tack

This an Icelandic saddle

The saddle has a little more leather than an English saddle. It has a substantial leg roll and the stirrups are set quite long. The girth is set a bit further back than English or Western riders would consider right.

A nose band is used over the horse's nose.

The Icelandic stirrup has a forward swoop to the outside half of the bail. This reduces the likelihood of getting a foot stock in a stirrup. And Yes, that means that there are left and right stirrups.
